Neues von den bekloppten Polen IPERYT, der Stimme des Krieges, laut Eigenaussage „A powerful mixture of furious black metal strongly established in its almost forgotten roots, a touch of death/grind attitude and all thrown into the wall of noise called terrorcore“. Mir sind neben (frühen) ANAAL NATHRAKH, die auf „The Codex Necro“, aber auch auf neueren Werken zwischendurch immer mal wieder elektronische Einflüsse in Form von Industrial oder D’n’B einfließen lassen, keine anderen Bands bekannt, die diese Verbindung von fiesem Black Metal mit elektronischen Einflüssen zur alles zerstörenden Melange verschmelzen. Das wird wahrscheinlich gemeint gewesen sein, wenn man von „Black Metal ist Krieg“ spricht. Krieg gegen die Ohren und den guten Geschmack. Immer noch Teufel, Tod und auraler Terror an der Schmerzgrenze Während Kollege Möller das damals noch auf dem Vorgänger „No State of Grace“ arg anstrengend und langweilig fand, kann man nicht sagen, dass IPERYT nichts gelernt haben in der Zwischenzeit. Im Grunde ist auch „The Patchwork Gehinnom“ nicht großartig anders: Es gibt wieder die typischen Black Metal Tremolo-Riffs wie eiskaltes Wasser ins Gesicht geklatscht und die Attacken des Schlagzeugs aus der Konserve springen einen unvorbereitet an. Sprachsamples und Industrial-Einflüsse geben wieder das maschinelle, kalte Feeling. Darüber ein paar misanthropische „Hail Satan“ Texte und fertig ist das Rezept. Allerdings kommen neuerdings durch eher hintergründige Melodien und ein paar Geschwindigkeitsvariationen kurze Verschnaufpausen und Aufhänger rein. So zum Beispiel im coolen und abwechslungsreichem Opener „Phantom Black Dogs“ oder dem Rausschmeißer „Checkmate, God“ mit Gitarrenmelodien, die kurz mal die Epik-Zone streifen und auch einer Band wie THE COMMITTEE oder BELPHEGOR gut zu Gesicht stehen würden. Manche Titel sind kurz und überraschend catchy geworden („Mindtaker“, „Worms of the modern World“ „From Nowhere to Nowhere“). Das macht das Material deutlich hörbarer als noch auf den Vorgängern und sogar ein kleiner Groove hat sich hier und da eingeschlichen. Dass die Polen ihre Tracks intern dann Uzi, Walze und so weiter nennen, ergibt durchaus Sinn und zeugt von einem doch recht eigenen Humor. Das rettet die ganze Chose dann letzten Endes vor der Versenkung. Der Gesang ist noch ein wenig eintönig und auch ob des Dauerbombardements der extrem lauten Terrorcore Parts ist es für Otto-Normal Hörer schwierig zu folgen. Für (elektronische) Extremisten Leuten mit Hang zu (textlich und musikalisch) düsterem elektronischem Hardcore oder Terrorcore oder Black Metaller die sich daran nicht stören können somit sicher mal ein Ohr riskieren. Denn die Eigenbeschreibung von IPERYT als „Machinery of sonic warfare“ zieht definitiv und wer dann nach dem Dauerfeuer eines „Panzerdivision Marduk“ beispielsweise die nächste Stufe benötigt um seinen Höhepunkt zu erreichen weil wegen nicht mehr extrem genug, könnte definitiv mal „The Patchwork Gehinnom“ anchecken. Alle anderen machen lieber einen großen Bogen um IPERYT, denn das Zeug ist so giftig, dass Leuten die sonst eher in seichteren Metalgefilden (ja, selbst so manche Black Metaller) zu Hause sind, nach Begegnung wohl mit ärztlichen Beratungen bei gekommen werden muss. Wydawca: Pagan Records Długo mi przyszło czekać na nowy album Iperyt, ale oto po sześciu latach zdarzył się cud i na światło dzienne wyszło ich najnowsze dziecię zatytułowane „The Patchwork Gehinnom”. Zamknąłem się z tym tworem w swoim chlewiku i tak go katowałem przez kilka tygodni… Dużo osób zarzucało zespołowi, że poprzednik „No State Of Grace” został wykastrowany częściowo ze swojego feelingu cechującego debiut i epkę. A jak jest teraz? Cóż sprawę trzeba postawić jasno, że dalej nie jest to coś podobnego stylistyką do debiutu. Tak jak pierwsze nagrania stawiały na sianie totalitarnej zagłady połączonej z nienawiścią, tak teraz dostajemy audialny terroryzm. Dalej jesteśmy ostrzeliwani bitami w sosie industrialnego black metalu. Elektronika wraz ze stroną perkusyjną (automat) dalej kopią dupsko i są przemyślane, bo co by nie mówić jest to główny motor napędowy tego buldożera, bez którego tak naprawdę zespół ten mógłby nie istnieć. Od strony gitarowej otrzymujemy garść bardzo dobrych riffów, które wpisują się w całą kompozycję albumu i nadają dodatkowego tempa, które czasami potrafi zwolnić na czas wybranych fragmentów. Co do strony wokalnej wiele osób może poczuć się zawiedzionych, że wokal People Hatera troszkę wy łagodniał i nie jest tak samo wściekły i opętańczy jak wcześniej, ale mi to osobiście nie przeszkadza, bo słucha się tego równie bardzo dobrze. Ba – na krążku znajdzie się nawet numer po części przez niego śpiewany! Czy warto było tyle czekać? Sam nie czuję się zawiedziony, ponieważ płyta w każdym aspekcie jest spójna koncepcyjnie (od grafiki do muzyki), chociaż wiem, że większość osób chciałoby powrotu do korzeni. Tym którzy są zawiedzeni, polecam podejść do tego albumu z innej strony: zapomnijcie, że Iperyt nagrał coś wcześniej i rozkoszujcie się tym kawałkiem muzyki. Ciekawy również jestem, jak nowy materiał wypadnie na żywo czy rozrusza każdą szkolną dyskotekę dla klas I – VI? Iperyt feature the wonderfully named People Hater on vocals, Hellhound and Black Messiah on guitars, Shocker applying samples and Vincent on bass. For those unfamiliar, their music is described as being black metal with a touch of death/grind attitude all thrown into the wall of noise called terrorcore. The Patchwork Gehinno will be released on CD, LP and digital formats and features the following tracks: ‘Phantom Black Dogs’, ‘From Nowhere to Nowhere’, ‘What Man Creates’, ‘With Eyes Wide Shut’, ‘Devil’s Violent Breed’, ‘These Walls (Have Seen)’, ‘Scars are Still Sexy’, ‘Primitive Darkness’, ‘Mindtaker’, ‘Worms of the Modern World’ and ‘Checkmate, God!’ (originally by Infktd). Recorded and produced at Czysciec Studio, production and mixing duties on The Patchwork Gehinno were handled by Nihil (Furia, Massemord, Morowe) who also provides additional vocals on ‘Scars Are Still Sexy’. IPERYT “The Patchwork Gehinnom” Pagan Records It’s album number three for Iperyt, which is the Polish word for Iprit, more commonly known as mustard gas… which may give you a clue or two that this album is not crammed full of ballads. Quite the opposite: In fact, this is (in places) so heavy that I can only play it when I’m the mood for some aural destruction. If I need some downtime, this is not the album I will be playing. Trying to pigeonhole this is impossible as well… while it has the attitude of Black Metal, as well as all-out war, the drum (machine) is set to overdrive and it would give most Industrial bands a scare or two. The vocals have a jackboot siege mentality, with the pseudonym of People Hater being quite an apt moniker. Yet despite all of the hatred that spews out of this release, Iperyt, can still bring things down a notch or two, like they do on From Nowhere To Nowhere… and the calming, yet menacing, feel adds depth to this release. For the most part though, they are kicking down doors, cracking heads and causing general carnage and destruction. The Industrial flavours work really well with the Metal and when they move into overdrive, like on the opener, Phantom Black Dogs, or on the more groove laden, Devil’s Violent Breed, (which is like The Prodigy on a murder spree), they are untouchable. I very nearly missed out on this album. Teraz mogę przejść z powrotem do katowickiej grupy Iperyt mam pewien sentyment. Chętnie bym się z niego wytłumaczył, gdybym umiał zracjonalizować sam sobie, skąd się bierze. Pamiętam ich z samplera Agonii, wydanego przed jedenastoma laty, który był całkiem do rzeczy materiałem, choć oczywiście reklamowym. Patrzę sobie na nazwy: Thuderbolt, Infernal War, Urgehal – nie byle co. Trochę wody w Wiśle upłynęło (w pobliskich ciekach wolnych podobnie), czara goryczy niejednokrotnie się przelała, a nasi bohaterowie zdążyli – wszak mieli na to ponad dekadę – wydać w międzyczasie drugi album i uderzyć (z) czy to rzeczywiście cios. Trudno powiedzieć, jak czas (i)ma się do takiej muzyki, bo proste stwierdzenie, że nikogo już to, co się tu wygrywa, nie szokuje, to zbyt oczywiste pójście na łatwiznę nawet nawet dla mnie. Zresztą może ówcześni nastolatkowie którzy wrastają właśnie w ekstremalny metal, by jeszcze szybciej z niego wyrosnąć, puszczają ze smartfonów koleżankom z subkultury normalsów te industrialno-blackowe pociski, a zawsze znajdą się osoby, na których zrobi to – odpowiednio złe – wrażenie. Sam lubiłem prezentować niezorientowanym utwór tytułowy z debiutu, by sprawdzić, by wprowadzać zamęt i co teraz? Nikomu nie stałaby się wielka krzywda, gdybym zapomniał o omawianej (dobre sobie!) płycie po kilku dniach. Autoparodystyczne, karykaturalne brzmienie bawi, ale jest do przełknięcia. Chyba że oczekuje się sonicznej zagłady czy czegoś podobnego. Coś podejrzewam, że podobne doznania czekałyby mnie wtedy, gdy puściłbym sobie jednocześnie Godflesh i Behemotha, ale sprawdziłem to jedynie nieśmiało. Trzeba oddać katowiczanom, że grają szybko. Mimo zawrotnego tempa, potrzeba im aż czterdziestu pięciu wrzuciłem sobie przed snem płyty Infernal War i Azarath. Spałem dobrze. Gdybym miał z tym problemy, mógłbym dopisać sobie do listy „The Patchwork Gehinnom”. To nawet nie chodzi o to, że płyta jest dramatycznie zła. Właściwie im większa programowo bezkompromisowość i brutalność, tym większa nuda. A wystarczy zwolnić, pomyśleć, przycichnąć, by od razu było lepiej. Jak w melodyjnym (tak, tak!) finale płyty, do którego pewnie będę wracał. Pamiętając, by mierzyć zamiary na siły, resztę już sobie daruję. Jeśli przemawia do Ciebie niekoniecznie bezpretensjonalna prostota i dość oklepana dosłowność, to czemu nie?
